*CM RELEASES 2025-26 ANNUAL REPORT OF STATE DISABILITIES COMMISSION, HAILS PROGRESS ON INCLUSION*
*PORVORIM:* Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant on Wednesday released the Annual Report 2025–26 of the Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities at Mantralaya, Porvorim.
The report was unveiled in the presence of Minister for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Subhash Phal Dessai, Secretary (Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities) Prasanna A. Acharya, IAS, Director of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Varsha Naik, State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities Guruprasad Pawaskar, and Secretary, Office of the Commission for Persons with Disabilities, Taha Haaziq.
The Annual Report documents the initiatives, grievance redressal, accessibility audits, and awareness drives undertaken by the Commissioner’s office over the last financial year. It also outlines progress on schemes for education, skilling, employment, and barrier-free infrastructure for persons with disabilities across Goa.
Speaking after the release, CM Sawant said the government remains committed to building an inclusive Goa where every citizen has equal opportunity. “This report reflects our work towards empowerment and dignity for Divyangjan. Accessibility and inclusion will continue to be priorities,” he said.
Minister Phal Dessai added that the department has expanded outreach to taluka levels and is working closely with panchayats and municipalities to implement the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act.
State Commissioner Guruprasad Pawaskar said the report highlights both achievements and the roadmap ahead, including strengthening complaint mechanisms and pushing for universal accessibility in public spaces.
The Office of the State Commissioner acts as the statutory watchdog for safeguarding the rights of persons with disabilities and ensuring effective implementation of disability-related policies and schemes.
