TRIBAL VISION DOCUMENT 2037 UNVEILED BY TRIBAL WELFARE MINISTER TO CHART ROADMAP FOR GOA’S TRIBAL COMMUNITIES
MARGAO: Minister for Tribal Welfare Dr. Ramesh Tawadkar on Monday inaugurated the ‘Tribal Vision Document 2037’ at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, setting out a long-term roadmap for the socio-economic development of Goa’s tribal communities.The document was launched under the Tribal Exchange Visit Programme, jointly organised by the Tribal Research Institute, Goa in collaboration with the Directorate of Tribal Welfare, Government of Goa and the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Tawadkar said Vision 2037 aims to align tribal welfare initiatives with national development goals, focusing on education, healthcare, livelihood, cultural preservation, and infrastructure for Scheduled Tribe communities over the next decade. “This document is not just a policy paper but a commitment to ensure that our tribal brothers and sisters are equal partners in Goa’s growth story,” he said.The Tribal Exchange Visit Programme seeks to promote knowledge-sharing and best practices among tribal communities from different states. Delegates, researchers, and tribal leaders participating in the event discussed challenges and opportunities in areas like forest rights, skill development, and entrepreneurship.Officials from the Tribal Research Institute said the Vision Document 2037 was drafted after extensive consultations with tribal hamlets, community elders, and NGOs. It identifies key thrust areas including digital literacy, sustainable agriculture, tribal art revival, and improved access to government schemes.The event also highlighted ongoing projects by the Directorate of Tribal Welfare, including scholarships, housing assistance, and vocational training programs tailored for ST youth.The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has been pushing states to prepare long-term vision plans to ensure targeted intervention and measurable outcomes for tribal development under the ‘Viksit Bharat’ framework
.The programme concluded with cultural performances by tribal troupes from Goa, showcasing the rich heritage of the Gawda, Kunbi, and Velip communities.
