Stray Dog Rescued from Deep Pit Near Vodacho Khuris at Vagator Mapusa Fire service Teams  Lauded

Vagator, April 21: A stray dog was safely rescued from a deep pit near Vodacho Khuris at Vagator on Tuesday afternoon, thanks to the prompt response by personnel from the Mapusa Fire Station.The incident was reported at 12:26 HRS after locals heard the animal’s cries coming from a pit located near the Vodacho Khuris in Vagator. A fire rescue team from Mapusa Fire Station, led by Leading Fire Fighter Shri Prashant Shetgaonkar, was immediately dispatched to the site.On arrival, firefighters found the dog trapped in a narrow, water-logged pit approximately 10–12 feet deep. Using rescue ropes, a ladder, and a safety harness, the team carefully descended into the pit. After nearly 20 minutes of coordinated effort, the dog was secured and lifted out safely without injury.

“No injuries were found on the animal. It was frightened but healthy. After the rescue, locals provided it with water and food,” said fire officer Prashant Shetgaonkar. The Mapusa fire team came quickly and handled it very professionally,” said a local youth from the Vodacho Khuris area .Fire officials reiterated that the department responds to all distress calls, including animal rescues, and appealed to citizens to report such emergencies immediately. The rescued dog was later released in the same locality after being checked for injuries.
