Beyond Textbooks: ‘Career Jagor’ Opens New Career Horizons for Goa’s Higher Secondary Students
Mapusa — In a focused effort to guide Goan students at a crucial stage of their academic journey, the Goa State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), in collaboration with UNOCUE, Mumbai, organised a Taluka-wise Career Counselling Programme under its “Career Jagor” Initiative at the Indoor Stadium, Peddem, Mapusa. The programme brought together students of Standards XI and XII from across the taluka, offering them direct guidance on emerging career options, subject-to-career mapping, and long-term planning. Experts from UNOCUE interacted with students, helping them understand how to make informed career choices based on aptitude and interest, rather than peer pressure or conventional trends. The sessions covered traditional careers, new-age opportunities, higher education pathways, and skill-based options. The initiative aims to ensure that students in Goa’s Higher Secondary schools receive structured career counselling early, so they can plan their future with clarity.

Teachers and students present said such taluka-level counselling is the need of the hour, as many students are unaware of the diverse opportunities available beyond the most popular streams.
