ISL: FC Goa fight back to hold Chennaiyin to 1-1 draw
Margao: The Indian Super League 2026–27 season returned to Goa as FC Goa welcomed Chennaiyin FC to the Fatorda Stadium for their first home fixture of the campaign. The encounter between the two sides ended in a 1–1 draw, with the Gaurs fighting back in the second half to secure a point in front of their home supporters.
The opening half was a closely contested affair, with both sides looking to establish control and create opportunities. Chennaiyin FC enjoyed more possession, while Goa remained organised defensively and looked to build their attacks when possible. Muhammed Nemil received a yellow card as the intensity grew, but neither side could find the breakthrough before the interval.
FC Goa returned from the break with greater attacking intent, creating promising opportunities and putting the Chennaiyin defence under pressure. Muhammed Nemil created a major chance in the 52nd minute, while Sandesh Jhingan remained solid at the back with important defensive interventions.

Both sides looked for a late winner in the closing stages, but neither could find the decisive goal. The contest ended in a draw, with FC Goa showing resilience to respond after conceding and securing a point in their first home fixture of the season.
