Tillari Project distributory to get major upgrade to boost irrigation network

PILGAO: Giving a major push to Goa’s irrigation network, Minister for Water Resources Department, Subhash Shirodkar on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for the strengthening and modification of the Narve-Pilgao Distributory Canal

.The project, taken up under the Interstate Tillari Irrigation Project, was launched at Pilgao in the presence of Mayem MLA Shri Premendra Vishnu Shet.

Chief Engineer, WRD, Dnyaneshwar Salelkar along with senior officials and local representatives were also present on the occasion. The strengthening work of the Narve-Pilgao distributory is expected to improve water carrying capacity, reduce losses and ensure efficient irrigation supply to the command area.

The Minister said the government is committed to strengthening irrigation infrastructure to support farmers and ensure optimum utilisation of water from the Tillari project.
