Scotland Yard expands e-bike fleet in London crime-busting spree
LONDON: (Aug 28) Scotland Yard has expanded its e-bike fleet as part of a crime-busting spree for London, targeting phone snatchings, street robberies and vehicle offences.
The Metropolitan Police, as the UK’s largest police force is known, said its fight against gangs who use e-bikes and mopeds to commit crime across London has stepped up a gear with its own e-bike fleet rising from five to 25 this week.
The lightweight Sur-Ron bikes enable officers to cut through traffic, navigate narrow streets and even tackle staircases, allowing them to pursue criminals in places inaccessible to conventional police motorcycles and cars.
