Goa Police register FIR against BJYM members over protest against Kharge; Cong calls it eyewash
PANAJI: (Aug 26) Goa Police have registered an FIR against Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) members over their protest during Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s visit to the state, but the Opposition party claimed that stringent provisions of the BNS were left out. BJYM members led by its Goa president Tushar Kelkar showed black flags to Kharge during his visit to the coastal state on August 17 for alleged insult to Vande Mataram. Local Congress leader Archit Naik filed a complaint against the protestors the next day. Dabolim Airport Police registered a First Information Report against Kelkar and others under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 189 (2) and (3) which deal with unlawful assembly on August 22.
