*Goa CM Felicitates 64 Vedanta Utkarsh Scholars, Applauds Initiative for Transforming Student Futures*

*August 26, 2026:* Furthering its commitment to promoting education and fostering holistic progress for the communities, Vedanta Iron And Steel Limited organised the Vedanta Utkarsh Scholarship felicitation ceremony at Ravindra Bhawan, Sankhali. The event, organised as part of the Company’s CSR Project ‘Vriddhi’ was graced by Dr Pramod Sawant, hon’ble CM, Goa, as Chief Guest. Over 60 meritorious students from Amona, Navelim, Sankhali, received the prestigious scholarship, enabling them to pursue professional courses and higher education.

Dr. Pramod Sawant, Hon’ble CM, Goa, encouraged the students and handed over the scholarship at the event, which was also attended by Mr. Sunder Naik, ZP, Pali, Mr. Narayan Gawas, Sarpanch, Navelim Village panchayat and Mr. Vasant Sinari, Sarpanch, Amona village panchayat, along with Mr Susanta Ganguli, CEO, VISL-VAP, Ms. Leena Verenkar, Head CSR, VISL and other company officials.

Congratulating the meritorious students, Dr. Pramod Sawant expressed his happiness at their success & appreciated Vedanta Iron And Steel Limited for undertaking meaningful initiatives aimed at long-term and transformational progress.

The Utkarsh Scholarship is specially designed for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, who have shown consistent academic excellence and participated in extracurricular activities. Final selections are made through a rigorous evaluation and personal interviews. The objective is simple yet powerful – to remove financial hurdles and open up pathways to meaningful careers. In almost nine years since inception, ~2000 students across states and from nearly 40 remote villages have benefitted from the scholarship program. Recently, students at Vazare, Maharashtra, also received scholarships as part of the initiative.
As part of Project ‘Vriddhi’, the Company’s education focussed initiatives also align with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 – Quality Education.

Along with scholarships, initiatives such as the Vedanta Computer Centres & Labs, Sesa Technical School & Nand Ghars have provided sustained support to communities & students. Over 2100+ students have successfully passed out from STS over the years, with a near 100% placement record. has helped nurture futures & also helped bridge the gap between opportunity & aspiration. Over the years, the company has implemented several impactful programs ranging from school infrastructure upgrades and student transport facilities to training workshops and digital learning support all aimed at fostering resilient and self-sufficient communities.
