Spirit of Patriotism Must Inspire Stronger India”: Deputy speaker on 80th Independence Day*
PORVORIM:* The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic zeal at the Assembly Complex, Porvorim, where deputy speaker Joshua DeSouza hoisted the National Flag in the presence of officials, party workers, and citizens.
Speaking on the occasion, DeSouza paid homage to the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s independence. He said the day is an opportunity to reflect on the values of democracy that continue to guide the country.
“On this day, we remember the sacrifices of our freedom fighters who fought for our nation’s Independence, and honour the enduring values of our democracy that continue to guide our country,” he said. Calling for unity and service, speaker urged citizens to uphold the spirit of patriotism. “May the spirit of patriotism continue to inspire dedicated public service and collective efforts towards a stronger, united, and developed India,” he added.
The ceremony included a Guard of Honour, singing of the National Anthem, and cultural performances by students. Participants also raised slogans of “Jai Hind” to mark the occasion.
The event was attended by local panchayat members, government officials, and residents of Porvorim.
