CM Sawant Calls For Stronger Panchayat Role To Achieve Viksit Bharat Goals
Bicholim:Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant on Wednesday inaugurated the District-Level Panch Samelan under the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rojgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) at Ravindra Bhavan, Sankhali. The event was organised by the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), North Goa, to review and strengthen implementation of rural employment and livelihood schemes at the grassroots level.
Addressing panchayat members, officials, and beneficiaries, Dr. Sawant said the mission is aimed at making rural India self-reliant by creating sustainable employment and livelihood opportunities in villages. He stressed that panchayats will play a key role in ensuring last-mile delivery of central and state welfare schemes.“The vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047 can only be achieved when our villages are strong. Panchayats must act as catalysts to connect people with government schemes for jobs, skill development, and self-employment,” the Chief Minister said. He added that the state government is committed to empowering youth, women, and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) through training, financial support, and market linkages under the Rojgar and Ajeevika Mission. Officials from DRDA North Goa made presentations on ongoing livelihood initiatives, employment generation programs, and success stories from across the district. The samelan also included discussions on skill development, rural entrepreneurship, and effective utilization of funds at the panchayat level.Panchayat representatives from across North Goa, SHG members, and beneficiaries of various rural development schemes participated in the event. The CM interacted with several beneficiaries and lauded their efforts in building small enterprises and contributing to the local economy. Dr. Sawant urged all stakeholders to work with a mission mode approach to ensure that no eligible beneficiary is left out and that the benefits of the Viksit Bharat Guarantee reach every household.
