GPCC State Executive Unveils Roadmap for ‘Goem Rakhon Yatra’, Reviews Electoral Issues, Reaffirms Organisational Discipline

Panaji: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee held meetings of the PCC Office Bearers and the State Executive Committee Meeting on 3rd August 2026 at Congress Headquarters, Panaji, under the chairmanship of GPCC President Shri Girish Chodankar. LoP Yuri Alemao, Former Union Minister Eduardo Faleiro, Working Presidents MK Shaikh and Sunil Kawthankar, Treasurer Datta Naik and other Office bearers and Executive members were present for the meetings.

The meetings focused on strengthening the organisation, safeguarding democratic rights, and finalising the party’s strategy on key political and public issues facing Goa.

The State Executive deliberated on the following important matters:

Goem Rakhon Yatra: The Executive finalised the broad framework for the Goem Rakhon Yatra, which will commence on 22nd September 2026. The yatra will serve as a mass public outreach campaign to connect with the people across Goa, raise awareness on issues affecting the State, and mobilise public opinion for protecting Goa’s identity, environment, constitutional values, and the rights of every Goan explained LoP Yuri Alemao.

Special Intensive Revision (SIR): The Executive reviewed the difficulties encountered by voters during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls. Spokesperson Shri Savio Coutinho briefed the committee on complaints received from across the State and stressed the need to ensure that every eligible voter is able to exercise his or her constitutional right without discrimination or administrative hurdles.

Ward Delimitation: A detailed review was undertaken of the proposed delimitation of wards for the forthcoming Municipal Council elections. Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sanghatan Chairman Shri Praveen Blaggan, who is coordinating the exercise, presented the ongoing scrutiny of the draft proposals to ensure that the delimitation process remains transparent, impartial, and in accordance with democratic principles.

Disciplinary Action: Acting on the recommendations of the Party’s Disciplinary Committee, the State Executive ratified the expulsion of Mrs. Shamila Siddiqui and Mrs. Manisha Usgaonkar from the Indian National Congress for acts of indiscipline. The Executive noted that both individuals were afforded a fair opportunity to present their case before the Disciplinary Committee prior to the decision.

Addressing the meeting, GPCC President Shri Girish Chodankar called upon all office-bearers and party workers to work with renewed dedication, discipline, and unity to strengthen the Congress organisation from the grassroots. He urged the cadre to intensify public engagement, take the party’s message to every household, and lead the fight against anti-people policies while safeguarding the interests and aspirations of the people of Goa.

The meeting concluded with a unanimous resolve to build a stronger and more vibrant Congress organisation capable of effectively championing the concerns of the people and providing a credible alternative for Goa.
