Adv Carlos demands Nachinola road rage case be transferred to Crime Branch
Mapusa : Aldona Congress MLA Adv Carlos Alvares Ferreira on Monday sought the transfer of the Nachinola road rage stabbing case to the Crime Branch alleging that the present manner of investigation indicated that the police were trying to protect someone.
He said that what appeared to be a gang fight was being passed off as a road rage incident by the Police in order to protect other accused.
“A road rage incident took place at Ganapati Temple in Nachinola in which one stabbed another. According to the news flash the Maharashtrian attacked the Goan. It later came to light that there was a group there and I saw a video which establishes that there was a group of people there. This means that the FIR that has been lodged is not correct. The investigation will not be done properly and the man who is currently behind bars will be set free,” he alleged.
“Such people need to be brought to book, else people will lose faith in the police and begin taking the law into their own hands. The people are also losing their patience. People are saying that this is being stated to be a road rage to protect a few people,” he said.
“I will be requesting the DGP to review this case, to take it away from the Mapusa Police station and hand it over to the Crime Branch. There should be no local influence, there should be no pressure from anyone. It should be a fair, honest and clean investigation, to name and bring every accused to justice, so that there’s no casualty to law,” he also said
