CM Pramod Sawant Inaugurates New OT Complex and Laser Vein Treatment Services at Bicholim CHC
BICHOLIM: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant on thursday inaugurated the newly built Operation Theatre Complex and Interventional Laser Vein Treatment Services at the Community Health Centre (CHC), Bicholim, marking a major boost to healthcare infrastructure in North Goa.The new facilities were inaugurated in the presence of Bicholim MLA Dr. Chandrakant Shetye, Mayem MLA Premendra Vishnu Shet, Joint Secretary (Health) Pranab Bhat, Former MLA Shri Rajesh Patnekar, and other dignitaries, senior health officials, and local residents.


Speaking at the event, Dr. Sawant said the upgraded CHC will significantly reduce the need for patients to travel to district or state hospitals for surgeries and specialized treatments. “The inauguration of the Operation Theatre Complex will enable timely surgical interventions closer to home, while the introduction of Interventional Laser Vein Treatment Services will provide advanced, minimally invasive care for patients suffering from varicose veins and related conditions,” the Chief Minister said.
He added that the state government is committed to strengthening health facilities at the taluka level under the vision of accessible and affordable healthcare for all Goans.
Dr. Chandrakant Shetye thanked the government for prioritizing Bicholim’s health infrastructure, stating that the new OT and laser facility will benefit thousands of residents from Bicholim, Mayem, and surrounding areas.
Premendra Shet said the initiative reflects the government’s focus on preventive and specialized care at the community level. Officials said the new Operation Theatre is equipped with modern surgical equipment to handle general and emergency procedures. The Interventional Laser Vein Treatment unit will offer day-care procedures with faster recovery times, reducing patient burden on GMC. The inauguration was followed by a tour of the new facilities by the Chief Minister and other dignitaries.
