Former Vice Admiral M.S. Pawar Calls on Goa Governor at Raj Bhavan

PANAJI: Former Vice Admiral Murlidhar Sadashiv Pawar, PVSM, AVSM, VSM (Retd.), called on the Governor of Goa, Shri Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju at Raj Bhavan, Dona Paula on Wednesday.

The courtesy meeting provided an opportunity for wide-ranging discussions on matters of national interest, maritime security, and Goa’s coastal development.

Vice Admiral Pawar, a highly decorated officer who served as Deputy Chief of Naval Staff, has had a distinguished career spanning over four decades in the Indian Navy.

He has held key command and staff appointments and has been closely associated with maritime strategy, naval modernization, and coastal security. His awards include the Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, and Vishisht Seva Medal for distinguished service.

During the meeting, the former Vice Admiral shared insights on strengthening coastal safety, leveraging Goa’s strategic maritime location, and promoting awareness about the Navy’s role among the youth of the state.

Governor Raju appreciated Vice Admiral Pawar’s long service to the nation and exchanged views on Goa’s potential in maritime tourism, port-led development, and veteran welfare initiatives.

The Governor noted that the experience and expertise of senior defence officers can contribute meaningfully to Goa’s growth story, especially in areas related to coastal infrastructure and disaster preparedness.The meeting concluded with an exchange of pleasantries. Senior officials of Raj Bhavan were present on the occasion.
