Foundation Stone Laid for Redevelopment of Poriat Football Stadium; Project to Give Modern Infra to Calangute Footballers
CALANGUTE: The redevelopment of Poriat Football Stadium began on Tuesday with the laying of the foundation stone, a project set to give Calangute’s footballers modern facilities and boost grassroots sports in the constituency.The ceremony was attended by local leaders, panchayat members and GSIDC officials. Those present included Mrs. Franzilia Celine Rodrigues, ZP Member; Shri Joseph R. Sequeira, Sarpanch of V.P. Calangute; Rohit Kadam, Managing Director, GSIDC; Rev. Fr. Mariano Silveira; along with village panchayat members and other distinguished guests
Speaking on the occasion, Calangute MLA stated that the stadium would be upgraded with modern infrastructure to meet current sporting standards. “This stadium is a commitment to the future of sports in our constituency. We remain dedicated to creating quality infrastructure that nurtures talent and gives our youth every opportunity to excel,” he said . sarpanch Joseph sequeria said the redeveloped ground is expected to become a hub for local tournaments and training, and will inspire young players in Calangute and surrounding villages.GSIDC is executing the project.
