Kamlakar Humraskar Gives PWD 8-Day Ultimatum Over Kamarkhajan Road Safety; Warns of Rasta Roko Protest
Pernem-based social worker and Shiv Sena (Shinde) member Shri Kamlakar M. Humraskar has submitted a memorandum to the Assistant Engineer, Public Works Department (PWD), Colvale Sub-Division, demanding immediate and permanent road safety measures at the accident-prone stretch at Kamarkhajan, Dhargal.

In the representation dated 16 July 2026, Humraskar highlighted the recent tragic accident involving a truck and a two-wheeler that claimed the lives of a husband and wife on the spot. He stated that although temporary barricades were installed by the Traffic Department after the incident, they have failed to effectively prevent accidents, as motorists continue to bypass them and police personnel are frequently required to reposition the barricades.
The memorandum urges the PWD to inspect the site and implement permanent road safety measures, including the removal of temporary barricades, construction of a protective retaining wall, development of a traffic circle (roundabout) if technically feasible, and installation of speed breakers on both approaches to the accident-prone stretch along with proper warning signages.
Speaking after submitting the memorandum, Humraskar said that the PWD has been given an 8-day ultimatum to initiate action on the demands. He warned that if the department fails to respond or take concrete steps within the stipulated period, they will once again follow up with the authorities. If no action is taken even thereafter, they will launch a Rasta Roko agitation and public protest to press for permanent road safety measures and protect the lives of commuters.
The memorandum was officially received by the Assistant Engineer, PWD Sub-Division III (NH), Colvale, on 16 July 2026
