GHRC asks GSIDC to replace non-compliant speed breakers & rumbler strips by November
July 4 – The Goa State Human Rights Commission (GHRC) has recommended that the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) remove five rubberised precast speed breakers on the Gaundalim Bridge and two similar non-compliant rumble strips at Madapai Junction, replacing them with hot-mix speed breakers by the end of November 2026. The recommendation follows a complaint filed by Betqui Candola Samvardhan Samitee member Viraj Bakre, alleging that the speed breakers installed in 2024 on the Major District Road connecting Old Goa and Candola-Marcela did not conform to prescribed standards. The Commission has also sought an Action Taken Report from GSIDC by December 2, 2026 after completing the work.
