MAPUSA: Heavy rains and gusty winds on Sunday led to two separate tree-fall incidents in Bardez, with the Mapusa Fire Station responding swiftly to both calls. No injuries were reported. The first incident was reported at 11:55 am after a large tree crashed onto a house near the Vagator petrol pump at Grand Chivar. The structure sustained damage. A team led by Sub Officer Dnyaneshwar Sawant reached the spot and began clearance operations to prevent further risk to residents and traffic on the busy stretch.Hours later, at 1:21 pm, a bibo tree collapsed on a shed near Rashtroli Temple at Tak Wado, Revora, triggering panic among locals. Leading Fire Fighter Prashant Shetgaonkar and his team cleared the fallen tree and assessed the shed for structural damage. Fire officials said strong winds and monsoon showers may have weakened both trees. In each case, the area was secured and the debris was removed within the hour. With the monsoon season in full swing officials have urged residents to report aging or precariously tilted trees to prevent mishaps.
