Major Fire Guts Rented Room in Bastora; Family Escapes Unharmed, Valuables Lost
Mapusa : A massive fire destroyed a rented room near St. Anthony Chapel in Bastora on Friday causing extensive property damage. No injuries were reported.The blaze reduced all household belongings to ashes, including jewellery, ₹70,000 in cash, furniture, and electronic appliances. At the time of the incident, the family was away at work and school. The fire was first noticed by the property owner, who tried to douse the flames before alerting the fire services. Personnel from the Mapusa Fire Brigade rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Further investigation is underway.
