CM Dr. Pramod Sawant Flags Off Goa Police Bike Rally Against Drug Abuse in Sankhali

Bicholim: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant on Thursday flagged off a Bike Rally from Ravindra Bhavan, Sankhali, organised by the Goa Police as part of its statewide campaign to raise awareness against drug abuse. The rally, which saw participation from police personnel and biking enthusiasts, aims to spread the message of a healthy, disciplined and drug-free society, particularly among the youth. Holding placards and wearing t-shirts with anti-drug slogans, the riders will cover key routes to engage with communities and promote vigilance against substance abuse.

Addressing the gathering before the flag-off, the Chief Minister lauded the Goa Police for taking proactive steps beyond enforcement to educate citizens. He stressed that the fight against drugs required collective effort from government agencies, educational institutions, parents, and civil society. “A drug-free Goa is essential for a strong and productive future. Awareness is the first step, and such initiatives help take that message to every village,” Dr. Sawant said.

Senior Goa Police officials present at the event said the department has intensified both enforcement drives and outreach programmes in recent months. The bike rally is part of a larger public engagement strategy to deter youth from falling prey to narcotics and to encourage citizens to report drug-related activity. The initiative reinforces the state government’s zero-tolerance policy towards drugs while promoting fitness and discipline through community participation.
