Justice for Krishna Naik: Goa’s Law and Order Situation Has Reached a Dangerous Low – Amarnath Panjikar
Panaji: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee Media and Communications Department Chairman Amarnath Panjikar has strongly condemned the brutal daylight murder of senior citizen Shri Krishna Naik (60) at Chicalim-Colvale on 24th June 2026 and demanded immediate arrest of all the accused involved in the heinous crime.
Panjikar said that the shocking incident has exposed the alarming deterioration of law and order in Goa under the BJP Government. According to media reports and eyewitness accounts, Shri Krishna Naik was targeted after he objected to a group of youths allegedly creating a nuisance by consuming alcohol and riding motorcycles recklessly near his residence.
“The manner in which the attack was carried out reveals a shocking level of criminal audacity. The accused allegedly went to the victim’s residence, abused him, called him outside and then launched a vicious assault using blunt objects. He was mercilessly beaten, kicked and subjected to a murderous attack that ultimately claimed his life. Even neighbours who courageously intervened to save him were assaulted,” Panjikar stated.
He noted that reports indicate the attackers attempted to crush the victim’s head with a large stone and fled only after local residents gathered at the scene. Shri Krishna Naik was later shifted to Goa Medical College but tragically succumbed to his injuries.
Panjikar said that such incidents have become increasingly frequent because criminal elements no longer fear the law. “There is a growing perception that anti-social elements enjoy protection and patronage from those in power. As a result, criminals are becoming bolder and ordinary citizens, particularly senior citizens, are feeling unsafe even outside their own homes,” he said.
The Congress Party has demanded:
* Immediate arrest of all four accused within the next 24 hours.
* A thorough investigation into the conspiracy angle and identification of every person involved in the crime.
* Strict action against all guilty persons under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
* Fast-track investigation and prosecution to ensure swift and exemplary justice for the victim’s family.
Panjikar expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family and assured them that the Congress Party stands firmly with them in their fight for justice.
“The brutal killing of Shri Krishna Naik cannot be allowed to become just another statistic. The Government and police machinery must act decisively and send a strong message that such barbaric acts will not be tolerated in Goa. We will continue to raise our voice until justice is delivered,” Panjikar said.
