Thousands join Sao Joao festival in Goa’s Siolim village
Siolim (Jun 24) Thousands of tourists on Wednesday participated in the traditional Sao Joao festival, marking the onset of the monsoon, at Siolim village in North Goa district.
Union Minister of State for Tourism Suresh Gopi inaugurated the celebrations, organised by the state tourism department, in the presence of MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade, MLA Delilah Lobo, Goa Tourism Director Kedar Naik and others.
There were cultural performances, music, traditional boat parades and community celebrations.
