*VISL IOG Organises a TB Screening Camp under Project ‘Aarogya’*
*Goa, 24 June 2026:* Vedanta Iron And Steel Limited (VISL) as part of it Project ‘Aarogya’, and in collaboration with the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Maem organised a Tuberculosis (TB) Screening Camp for its workmen and employees at the Bicholim mines.
The camp was aimed at strengthening TB awareness, encourage early detection, and contribute towards the national vision of a TB-free India.
The initiative also contributes to the PM TB-Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (PMTBMBA), wherein a 100 day concerted campaign has been organised under the aegis of the Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM) and in collaboration with the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) and National Health Mission, Goa.
The screening camp witnessed participation from over 100 employees and workmen from VISL-Iron Ore Goa, and included an awareness and sensitisation session conducted by Dr. Danica De Silva, DHS Goa, NTEP. During the session the participants were gained insights on TB prevention, early warning signs, treatment protocols, the importance of completing prescribed treatment, and the role of collective community participation in breaking taboos & eliminating tuberculosis.
Speaking on the initiative, Dr. Danica De Silva, DHS Goa, NTEP, said, “The active participation of organisations like Vedanta Iron And Steel Limited strengthens our collective efforts towards achieving a TB-free India. Tuberculosis remains a preventable and curable disease, and early detection plays a crucial role in ensuring timely treatment and preventing transmission. Initiatives such as these help create awareness among employees and communities, encouraging people to seek medical support without delay.”
