Umta Vaddo (Calangute) Stun Gaura Vaddo (Calangute) 3-1 to move into Santa Maria Cup Football Tournament Final
CALANGUTE – Umta Vaddo engineered a commanding second-half comeback to overturn an early deficit and defeat Gaura Vaddo 3-1 in the Santa Maria Cup semi-final on Monday, booking a spot in the final. Gaura Vaddo broke the deadlock in the first half as Mervin opened the scoring with a well-placed finish to give Gauravaddo a 1-0 lead at the break. Umtavaddo came out firing after restart. Umta Vaddo were awarded a penalty and Domnic stepped up to convert from the spot, leveling the scores. Buoyed by the equalizer, Umta Vaddo pressed high and found their rhythm. Dominic then completed his brace with a clinical strike inside the box to put his side ahead.


Philino later sealed the win, slotting home a third with a composed finish after a swift counter-attack. The Calangute derby turned feisty and end-to-end as both sides threw men forward. The referee had a busy evening, brandishing a yellow card to Gaura Vaddo’s Jovito.
Umta Vaddo’s Christon and Philino were both dismissed after picking up two yellow cards each, while Sachu, Calvinho and Siddhant were also cautioned. Minor skirmishes briefly halted play before match officials restored order.
