Sowing Sustainability: Calangute MLA Distributes 825 Seed Bags, Plants 125 Trees for Biodiversity
CALANGUTE – In a push to strengthen agriculture and biodiversity, Calangute MLA joined Sarpanch Joseph Sequeira, Deputy Sarpanch Filomena S. Fernandes, Secretary Arjun Velip, Panch members, and the Biodiversity Management Committee for a Tree Planting & Paddy Seed Distribution Programme organised by Village Panchayat Calangute on tuesday
The initiative will directly benefit around 190 farmers through distribution of 825 paddy seed bags, aimed at supporting the upcoming kharif season.
As part of the green drive, 125 trees will be planted along the stretch from Dolphin Circle to Palmarinha, adding to Calangute’s green cover.
“Supporting our farmers and protecting our environment go hand in hand,” the MLA said. Panchayat officials noted that such programmes preserve Goa’s agricultural traditions while reinforcing the village’s commitment to biodiversity conservation for future generations.The drive saw active participation from farmers and villagers, marking another step in Calangute Panchayat’s sustainability efforts.
