PORVORIM: Minister for Tourism, Shri Rohan Khaunte inaugurated an Ayurveda Health Camp at Socorro Panchayat Hall, Porvorim on, marking a significant step towards promoting wellness tourism and preventive healthcare in Goa on Saturday The camp, organised with focus on traditional Ayurvedic therapies, consultation and health check-ups, aims to make holistic healing accessible to local residents. A large number of citizens turned up to avail free consultations from qualified Ayurveda doctors and experienced wellness sessions.Inaugurating the camp, Minister Khaunte highlighted Goa’s growing identity as a global wellness destination. He said Ayurveda, as India’s ancient science of life, aligns perfectly with Goa’s tourism vision of moving beyond beaches to offer health, rejuvenation and sustainable living experiences.“Goa is not just about tourism of sand and sea. We are building a narrative around wellness, culture and traditional medicine.
Camps like these at the panchayat level bring healthcare closer to people and also showcase Goa’s strength in Ayurveda to visitors,” the Minister said while interacting with beneficiaries. Khaunte stressed that preventive healthcare through Ayurveda can reduce lifestyle-related ailments and improve quality of life. He urged panchayats across the state to host similar camps and create awareness about natural, drug-free healing methods.
The Minister also reviewed the arrangements at the camp and spoke with doctors and patients. He appreciated the efforts of the organisers and local panchayat members for facilitating the initiative.
Local panchayat members, health officials and a large gathering of residents were present for the inauguration. The camp offered therapies, dietary guidance and personalised Ayurvedic consultations, drawing positive response from the community.With Goa positioning itself as a hub for medical and wellness tourism, initiatives like the Socorro Ayurveda Camp are expected to strengthen the state’s brand as a destination for holistic health and rejuvenation.
