Progress High School Crowned State Champions Dilip Sardesai Trophy Cricket Tournament

Panaji: Progress High School, Sankhali emerged champions of the Goa Cricket Association’s Dilip Sardesai Trophy 2025-26 State-Level Under-16 Cricket Tournament after defeating New Educational Institute, Curchorem by 16 runs in the final.

After winning the toss at Chapora Ground, New Educational Institute elected to bowl first. Progress High School posted a competitive total of 95 for 4 in their allotted 10 overs. Vedant Naik top-scored with 29 runs off 23 balls, while Amish Gawas struck 37 runs from 23 deliveries. Swayam Sawal remained unbeaten on 12.

For New Educational Institute, Tanishq Naik was the most successful bowler with figures of 2 for 15 in two overs, while Shaurya Fadte claimed one wicket for 16 runs.

Chasing a target of 96, New Educational Institute were restricted to 79 for 7 in 10 overs. Uzair Shaikh led the fightback with 30 runs off 20 balls, Tirthesh Chandgadkar contributed 12, and Shaurya Fadte added a quick 16 off seven deliveries. However, their efforts were not enough to take the team over the line.

Progress High School’s bowlers maintained tight control throughout the innings. Mayank Gawade picked up two wickets, while Sparsh Gawas, Swaraj Fadte and Amish Gawas claimed one wicket each.

With this victory, Progress High School, Sankhali, clinched the state Under-16 title impressively.

The prize distribution ceremony was attended by dignitaries, including Siddhesh Salgaokar, Aniket Mayekar and Prasad Surlakar.
