Double Engine’ BJP Fails as Petrol Hike Crushes People: GPCC Congress
Mapusa Chairman of the Media & Communication Department of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee, Amarnath Panjikar, launched a scathing attack on the BJP Governments at the Centre and in Goa over the shocking increase in fuel prices by nearly ₹7.50 per litre in less than ten days, calling it another brutal assault on the pockets of ordinary citizens already struggling with unprecedented inflation.
Amarnath Panjikar stated that the so-called “Double Engine Government” has now become a “Double Trouble Government” for the people of the country. He said that while citizens are battling rising prices of fuel, cooking gas, food items, medicines and essential commodities, the BJP Government continues to remain completely insensitive and disconnected from the suffering of common people.
Amarnath Panjikar questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence on the issue and asked whether the Prime Minister will finally hold a press conference to explain the real reasons behind the uncontrollable inflation that is destroying household budgets across India. He said the country deserves answers on why fuel prices are skyrocketing despite repeated promises of relief and economic stability.
Targeting the BJP’s priorities, Amarnath Panjikar said that instead of addressing inflation, unemployment and economic distress, Prime Minister Modi appears more interested in public relations exercises and foreign tours. He remarked that while people in India are struggling to survive under crushing inflation, the Prime Minister is busy distributing “Melodi” chocolates during foreign visits rather than delivering meaningful relief to citizens back home.
Amarnath Panjikar further said that every increase in fuel prices directly impacts transport costs, vegetables, milk, groceries and other daily essentials, making life miserable for middle-class families, youth, small businesses, taxi operators and economically weaker sections. He accused the BJP Government of deliberately burdening citizens through excessive taxation on fuel while corporate friends continue to enjoy protection and benefits.
Demanding immediate intervention, Amarnath Panjikar urged the Central Government to reduce excise duties on petrol and diesel and provide urgent relief to people suffering under severe inflationary pressure.
