Senior Journalist Kamlakar Humraskar to Contest 2027 Assembly Polls from Pernem

Pernem: Senior journalist and Editor of ShabdMedia, Kamlakar M. Humraskar, has announced that he will contest the upcoming Goa Assembly Elections from the reserved Pernem Constituency as an Independent candidate. Addressing the public and media, Humraskar appealed to the voters of Pernem to support him and elect him to bring overall development to the constituency.

Humraskar alleged that Pernem has witnessed lack of development for several years and raised concerns over unemployment, poor infrastructure, neglected agriculture sector, taxi issues, and shortage of basic facilities such as roads, water and electricity in several villages. He stated that many roads in Pernem remain dug up for years without hotmixing and claimed that some works are now being hurriedly completed only because elections are approaching.

Criticizing the government, Humraskar said that despite assurances, proper employment opportunities are not being provided to local youth. Referring to Mopa Airport and industrial sectors, he claimed that most jobs are being given to outsiders instead of Goan youth. He stated that it is the duty of elected representatives to continuously follow up with authorities to secure jobs for locals.

Speaking about his journey, Humraskar said he has been in journalism for the last 30-35 years and has always maintained honesty in public life. He said no one can accuse him of extortion or corruption and added that he has always stood by the people and helped them in difficult times.

Humraskar further stated that he wants to create history by contesting elections without distributing money for votes. “I want to prove that elections can be fought honestly without buying votes,” he said. He also mentioned that he does not trust political parties and therefore plans to contest as an Independent candidate. However, he added that if any political proposal comes in the future, he would first consult his team, karyakartas and supporters before taking any decision.

He also accused political leaders of organizing events and tournaments using taxpayers’ money ahead of elections and alleged that such expenses are later recovered through corruption. Humraskar assured the people that if elected, he would work wholeheartedly for the welfare, development and human progress of Pernem Constituency.
