‘Goa Amrutkumbha Honey’ Launched: North Goa DMF Pushes Livelihood Push for Bardez Beekeepers

Panaji: In a first-of-its-kind initiative under the District Mineral Foundation (DMF), North Goa Collector and Chairperson of North Goa DMF Shri Ankit Yadav, IAS, launched ‘Goa Amrutkumbha Honey’, a brand by the Bardez Beekeepers Society, at the Collectorate Conference Hall on Tuesday.

The launch marks a shift in DMF’s focus from infrastructure to sustainable livelihoods. The honey, sourced from local apiaries across Bardez, will be marketed under the ‘Amrutkumbha’ brand to provide beekeepers direct market access and better income.

Speaking at the event, Yadav said DMF funds were being channeled to support traditional skills and rural entrepreneurship.

“This is about converting local produce into economic strength. Bardez beekeepers will now have branding, quality certification, and institutional support,” he said.

The society members said the DMF-backed initiative would help them scale up production, improve packaging, and reach urban markets. Officials added that the project aims to promote apiculture as a viable green livelihood in mining-affected areas of North Goa.
