OIL SPILL NEAR ALANKAR THEATRE PROMPTS SWIFT MAPUSA FIRE RESPONSE
MAPUSA: A swift response by the Mapusa Fire Station on Saturday evening averted potential accidents after oil spilled on the road near Stomach Bar & Restaurant, close to Alankar Theatre.The incident was reported at 17:36 hrs.
Fire personnel from Mapusa, led by Leading Firefighter R.A. Gaonkar, rushed to the site and took immediate measures to contain the spill.The team spread sand and absorbent material over the affected stretch to prevent skidding and reduce fire risk, especially with evening traffic building up in the busy theatre junction area.
The quick action ensured vehicular movement was restored without any mishap.No injuries or damage were reported. The cause of the spill is being ascertained.Traffic police assisted fire crews in managing vehicles until the road was deemed safe.
