FAMILY BOOKED FOR ALLEGED CRUELTY TOWARDS BLIND WOMAN IN CUNCOLIM

CUNCOLIM: Cuncolim Police have registered an FIR against a family for allegedly abusing a visually disabled woman and denying her basic facilities. According to police, the victim had approached the accused to ask for food and money for medical treatment, which was allegedly kept with the family. Instead of providing help, the accused allegedly abused and threatened her.The complaint further states that the accused dumped mud inside the toilet and locked the toilet door used by the victim, restraining her from using it. As a result, the woman allegedly had to go to an open place to attend nature’s call.

Police said the accused acted in a cruel manner and failed to provide the victim with basic necessities and access to facilities.A case has been registered under Sections 352, 351(2), and 126(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 92 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act.Further investigation is underway.—
