AGDJA Files Complaint Against Gautam Khattar Over Remarks on Journalists
The All Goa Digital Journalist Association (AGDJA) has formally lodged a complaint with the Goa District Police against Gautam Khattar over alleged derogatory remarks made against journalists and journalism ethics in Goa.In the complaint submitted to the Superintendent of Police, AGDJA stated that Khattar’s public statements questioned the ethics, credibility, and decorum of journalists, which the association termed as “generalized and defamatory” towards the media fraternity. The association said such remarks undermine the professional integrity of journalists and could create distrust and hostility against media persons carrying out their duties. AGDJA further stated that if Khattar had any grievances, they should have been addressed through proper channels instead of making public statements targeting the entire journalist community. The association has requested the police to: Take cognizance of the matter and initiate an inquiry,Assess whether the remarks amount to defamation or incitement against journalists, Take necessary legal action to prevent recurrence of such incidents. The complaint also sought an investigation into the role of the doctor who medically examined Gautam Khattar and issued the related medical report, to ensure all procedures and assessments were conducted fairly and transparently. AGDJA reiterated its commitment to responsible journalism and expressed confidence that Goa Police would uphold the rule of law and protect the dignity and safety of journalists.
