CM SAWANT INAUGURATES VASCO UNDERBRIDGE, LAYS FOUNDATION FOR SPORTS & COMMERCIAL COMPLEXES
VASCO: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant on Wednesday inaugurated the upgraded railway underbridge and laid foundation stones for a new sports complex and a municipality commercial complex in Vasco.The event was held in the presence of Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho, Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar, Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade, and MLAs Krishna Daji Salkar and Sankalp Amonkar, among other dignitaries.The upgraded underbridge, a long-pending demand of residents, is expected to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity between Mormugao and Vasco city. The upgrade widens the passage and improves drainage to prevent monsoon waterlogging.The proposed sports complex aims to boost local sporting talent and provide modern training facilities. Sports Minister Tawadkar said the project aligns with the state’s goal of creating district-level sports infrastructure.The new commercial complex by Mormugao Municipal Council will house shops and office spaces, intended to generate revenue for the municipality and provide organized vending space for local businesses.Speaking at the function, CM Sawant said the three projects reflect the government’s commitment to urban renewal and youth development in Vasco.
“Infrastructure and sports facilities are key to improving quality of life and creating opportunities,” he said.
Transport Minister Godinho added that the underbridge will reduce bottlenecks for port-related and city traffic, especially heavy vehicles.Work on the sports and commercial complexes will begin shortly, officials said. Timelines and project costs are expected to be announced by the respective departments.
