BJP hails historic poll victory in West Bengal and Assam, gives credit to Modi’s leadership

NEW DELHI: (May 4) The BJP on Monday hailed the party’s “historic victory” in the West Bengal and Assam Assembly polls, calling it a decisive endorsement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and a rejection of the opposition’s “appeasement politics”.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is on course to form its first government in West Bengal as it has raced ahead in more than 200 seats, well past the majority mark, ending the Trinamool Congress’s (TMC) 15-year rule in the state. The saffron party is also set to retain power in Assam, while the NDA is poised to return to power in Puducherry.

In a post on X, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said the BJP’s “historic” victory in West Bengal is the result of the sacrifices and struggles of countless party workers whose families endured violence but never abandoned the saffron flag.
