Porvorim MLA Launches Women’s Sports Fest-2026;

PORVORIM: In a unique expression of NariShakti, Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte launched the Women’s Sports Fest-2026 on May 3, 2026, creating a platform for homemakers, entrepreneurs, and professionals to showcase their sporting skills. The fest breaks the mould of conventional sports events by targeting women who juggle homes, businesses, and careers but rarely step onto a playing field. “There is an athlete in every household and office. This is about giving her a jersey, a ground, and a cheer,” Khaunte said while announcing the initiative.

Designed to celebrate untapped talent, the multi-day event will feature various sporting disciplines There is no requirement for prior professional sports background, with the focus squarely on participation, wellness, and community spirit. Khaunte said the idea is to dismantle the notion that sports belongs only to the young or trained. “NariShakti isn’t just about recognition on Women’s Day. It’s about everyday strength. Porvorim’s women run homes, companies, and offices — now they’ll run races too,” he added.

Entries have already begun from across Porvorim and neighbouring constituencies, with organisers expecting strong turnout from first-time participants.
