St Savio’s SC Calangute Storm Into Semis With 3-1 Win Over Sinquerim in Candolim Panchayat Cup
Calangute: St Savio’s Sports Club, Calangute, booked their semi-final berth in the Candolim Panchayat Cup with a fluent 3-1 comeback win over Sinquerim Sports Club at the Dr Gustavo Monteiro ground, Candolim, on Wednesday. In the 7th minute, St Savio’s SC forward Pedro Gonsalves saw his strike brilliantly fisted over the crossbar by the Sinquerim SC custodian.Sinquerim SC took the lead in the 27th minute when Gopal Gadai’s power-packed shot from outside the penalty box found the net ,giving sinquerim the lead
After the break, St Savio’s SC piled pressure on the Sinquerim defence and found the equaliser in the 43rd minute through Pedro Gonsalves, levelling the match at 1-1.Jovito Fernandes put St Savio’s ahead in the 57th minute to make it 2-1. Two minutes later, St Savio’s were awarded a penalty which Pedro converted calmly to seal a 3-1 win. The tournament is organised by Candolim Sports Club.
