Impounded Fishing Vessels Make Midnight Escape from Panaji Jetty
PANAJI: In a major security lapse, four fishing vessels under impoundment escaped from the Fisheries jetty in Panaji early Thursday morning. Three of the boats were carrying fish. All four had been seized as part of a crackdown on alleged illegal fishing, during which vessels from neighbouring states were identified and detained. Officials confirmed that while some vessels had slipped away earlier during the drive, these four broke away from the jetty despite being in custody. Police have registered a complaint.
