Adv Carlos slams govt for wasteful expenditure, lack of funds for panchayat works
ALDONA: Aldona Congress MLA Adv Carlos Alvares Ferreira assured the people of Aldona that even if works are slow due to the government failing to process files, he would ensure that they are completed on time and in a professional manner.He was speaking at the inauguration of Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony towards commencement of work of: “Repair of Gutter drainage from Mr. Premnath Polle house to Pond at Podwal in ward no 8 in VP Aldona under Aldona Constituency (MLA-LAD Scheme)”The work that was tendered at an estimate of Rs 25-lakh was undertaken for Rs 23-lakh with a 90 day deadline.
Speaking on the occasion, Adv Carlos also hit out at the government for wasting money where it was not needed and claiming that there were no funds for necessary work like building roads and repairing gutters in the villages.
“The government is spending Rs 57 crore for a race track, Rs 16 crore for a stadium in Verna. They don’t have money for roads and gutters. Nothing gets done under the panchayat funds. If the files are sent, they are sent back saying there are no funds and all the funds are spent on salaries,” he said.
“Files to restore the roads have also been submitted. The process may be slow because we are in the opposition, but I assure my people that the work will be done and I will follow them up to the logical conclusion,” he said adding that he has not joined politics to promote his personal interest nor to make money but for the welfare of the people.
