Fire Breaks Out at Satorshya, Aldona; Mapusa Fire Team Averts Major Mishap
Mapusa Timely action by the Mapusa Fire Station on wednesday morning prevented a major tragedy after a house at Satorshya, Aldona caught fire. The blaze was reported at 09:46 HRS in the Satorshya locality of Aldona. A fire tender from Mapusa Fire Station, led by Leading Fire Fighter Shri S.M. Khan, was immediately pressed into service and reached the site within minutes.According to officials, the fire had engulfed part of the residential structure when the team arrived. Firefighters battled the flames and managed to contain the blaze before it could spread to neighboring houses in the densely populated ward. Cooling operations were carried out to prevent re-ignition.No casualties or injuries have been reported so far. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, while the extent of damage to property and household articles is being assessed by authorities. Eyewitnesses said thick smoke was seen rising from the house around 9:40 AM, creating panic among residents.
“We called the fire station and they responded very quickly. If they were late, the fire would have spread to other houses,” said a local resident.
Speaking to reporters, L/Ff S.M. Khan said, “Access lanes in Satorshya are narrow, which posed a challenge. However, our team laid hose lines and brought the situation under control. The area has now been declared safe.
”Aldona police also arrived at the spot to assist with crowd management and regulate traffic for smooth movement of the fire tender. A panchanama of the incident will be conducted and a report submitted to the North Goa Collectorate. Further investigation is underway.
