Goa Maps Autism-Inclusive Future: CM Pramod Sawant Unveils 2024–26 Sensitisation Blueprint in Panaji
PANAJI: Moving beyond awareness into structured action, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant on Tuesday released the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Sensitisation Programme Report 2024–2026, laying out Goa’s first multi-year roadmap to make classrooms, clinics, and communities genuinely autism-inclusive.
The report, unveiled at a function in Panaji, shifts the state’s approach from one-off workshops to a measurable, department-linked programme spread across health, education, and social welfare.
It sets year-wise targets for teacher training, parent counselling, early screening, and public sensitisation — positioning Goa to become one of the first states with a notified ASD action calendar.“Understanding autism is not charity, it’s citizenship,” Dr. Sawant said while releasing the document. “This report is not for the shelf. Every quarter, we will track how many Anganwadi workers are trained, how many schools have resource rooms, how many parents get hand-holding support. Sensitisation must lead to dignity and ease of living.” he said
