Calangute: Candolim SC put on a five-star display to rout Goa Velha SC 5-1 in a Goa Football Association Division I League fixture at the Poriat ground, Calangute, on Friday.
Candolim took control early and went into the break with a slender one-goal cushion after striker Shallum Pires broke the deadlock in the 25th minute with a clinical finish. After the restart, Candolim shifted gears. Reniel D’Mello doubled the advantage before Dalesh Pednekar struck a brace to put the result beyond doubt. Rajan Padashi then added gloss to the scoreline with a late fifth, completing a dominant second-half showing.Goa Velha SC pulled one back through Sowell Fernandes, but it proved to be only a consolation as Candolim’s high press and quick transitions sealed a convincing 5-1 win at full-time.
