Training for 270 polling personnel for the Bye-Election to the 21-Ponda Assembly Constituency was conducted today at GVM’s Dr. Dada Vaidya College of Education, Ponda, Goa.
The session comprehensively covered the roles and responsibilities of polling staff, including Presiding Officers and Polling Officers. Hands-on training was provided on the operation of EVMs and VVPATs, along with detailed guidance on mock poll procedures, sealing protocols and statutory requirements to ensure accuracy and strict compliance on polling day.
A total of 45 polling stations has been set up across the constituency.
In addition to training on the technical and procedural aspects of EVM-VVPAT operations, emphasis was laid on the importance of conducting mock polls and issuing mock poll certificates. The use of dummy EVMs was also demonstrated to help polling personnel effectively explain the voting process, particularly to illiterate voters.
