St. Thomas HSS Hosts Successful U-14 Invitational Basketball Tournament

Aldona : St. Thomas Higher Secondary School, Aldona, in collaboration with the Aldona Basketball Club, successfully organized an Under-14 Invitational Basketball Tournament on March 24 and 25 at the school basketball court.

The two-day tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from various schools, showcasing remarkable talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship among young basketball players.

In the girls’ category, St. Mary’s High School, Mapusa emerged as champions after an impressive performance. St. Thomas Girls High School, Aldona secured the runners-up position, while St. Xavier’s High School, Moira finished third.

In the boys’ category, St. Britto’s High School, Mapusa clinched the title by defeating St. Francis Xavier’s High School, Siolim in a competitive final. St. Thomas Boys High School, Aldona secured third place.

Individual performances were also recognized for excellence. In the girls’ section, Miss Roshni of St. Thomas Girls High School, Aldona was adjudged the Most Valuable Player (MVP), while Miss Tanishka of St. Xavier’s High School, Moira was awarded the Emerging Player. In the boys’ section, Master Michael of St. Britto’s High School, Mapusa received the MVP award, and Master Sakeeb of St. Anthony’s, Duler was named the Emerging Player.

The prize distribution ceremony was graced by distinguished guests including Mr. Matthew Fernandes, Mr. Amarnath Panjikar, Mr. Akhil Palni, Fr. Jerard Sahayaraj, and Principal Angelica Mendes, who congratulated the participants and appreciated their sporting spirit.

The tournament concluded on a high note, reinforcing the importance of sports in holistic student development and providing a platform for budding athletes to excel.
