PONDA: :Battle of ballots for Ponda assembly by-election intensified after all the three major political party nominees filled their nomination papers on Monday and set a stage for the triangular fight. All the three major political party leaders accompanied their candidates along with a sufficient number of supporters.
There was a huge police bandobast at the deputy collector’s office before the political contestants filed their nomination papers.`Once again lotus will bloom in Ponda constituency and we will win this time with a major lead in the forthcoming by-elections,” stated the chief minister, Dr Pramod
Sawant. Addressing the media, the chief minister said Mr Ritesh Ravi Naik, is a BJP and MGP alliance candidate, adding late Ravi Naik had done lots of development works in the constituency and if once again BJP candidate was elected in the by-elections we will complete all the incomplete developmental works and projects.
Chief minister was speaking after filing the nomination papers by BJP- MGP combined candidate Mr Ritesh Naik and hoped that the BJP candidate will win the elections with a thumping majority and all the karyakartas of MGP and BJP will work in favour of the joint candidate.While the MGP MLA, and power minister Mr Sudhin Dhavlikar said the traditional votes of MGP will go in favour of BJP. Congress Party is confident of winning with a good margin since the RGP is backing its candidate.Mr Yuri Alemao expressed confidence of winning the seat while. AAP MLAs Venzy Viegas, Cruz Silva and state president Mr Valmiki Naik expressed confidence.of winning the seat as they felt that their base is taking roots in Ponda constituency.
