Mapusa: A branch of a mango tree crashed onto a house near the historic fort in Fadter, Thivim, at 08:53 HRS on Monday sending shockwaves through the quiet neighbourhood. The Mapusa Fire Station team, led by firefighter Suraj Shetgaonkar, sprang into action, reaching the spot swiftly to mitigate the situation.
The fallen branch, estimated to be around 10 inches in diameter, smashed into the roof of the residence, causing significant structural damage. However, thanks to the prompt response by the fire services, the area was quickly cordoned off, and the debris was cleared, ensuring the residents’ safety.”
The prompt action by the Mapusa fire team averted potential catastrophe, preventing further damage to the property and neighbouring houses. The cause of the tree’s collapse is being investigated
