Swift response by Fire services saves family after tree crashes on their house at siolim
Mapusa — A sudden crash sent shockwaves through Tropa Wado, Siodem, as a massive tree splintered onto a house near Rashtroli Devasthan. Neighbors rushed the family to safety just as the age old tree gave way, smashing through the roof and kitchen.
Mapusa Fire Station’s team, led by firefighter Suraj Shetgaonkar, arrived within 15 minutes — “The family was shaken but fine. We cleared the debris and checked for any hazards,” Shetgaonkar said. Power was cut as precaution; no injuries reported.
The house is currently uninhabitable; the family’s staying with relatives as repairs start. Meanwhile, locals are debating how many more such trees will be left standing in Siolim’s lanes.
