GFA pro League: Calangute Association Clinch 2-0 Win Over Chapora Yuvak Sangh
Calangute Association registered a well-deserved 2-0 win over Chapora Yuvak Sangh in the Goa Professional Super League match played at Poriat ground on Wednesday. After this win, Calangute Association has 23 points from 15 matches, while Chapora YS has 19 points from 10 matches.
Calangute Association scored both goals in the second half. There was little action in the first half, with both goalkeepers being hardly tested. Chapora YS had just one close attempt at the rival goal in the 20th minute when Richard Cardoz sent a floater to overlapping Soham Sheticar, who failed miserably to beat Calangute Association’s custodian Aditya Sharma.
On the other end, in the 2nd minute, Chapora YS’s Veron Pereira sent a measured cross to Harshad Madkaikar, whose header was brilliantly blocked by Calangute Association’s custodian. In a counter-attack, Calangute Association’s Jovito Fernandes moved dangerously inside the 18-yard box from the left flank but shot out.
Chapora YS’s Soham Sheticar once again failed to beat Calangute Association’s custodian Aditya in a one-to-one situation. Calangute Association’s custodian Aditya, in the process of clearing the ball, collided with Soham, prompting Referee Tejas Nagvenkar to point to the penalty spot. Calangute Association’s Veron Pereira stepped up for the spot-kick but saw his effort saved by custodian Aditya.

In the very next minute, Calangute Association’s Suraj Kumar darted inside the penalty box, dribbling past the onrushing Chapora YS goalkeeper Tanesh Kankonkar, and scored, 1-0.
As the match progressed, Calangute Association’s goalkeeper Aditya once again came to his team’s rescue as he thwarted Chapora YS’s Soham Sheticar in a one-to-one situation. Substitute Arun Naik collected a square pass from Vishesh Nasnodkar and made it 2-0.
