PANJIM GYMKHANA HOSTS SUCCESSFUL FIRST EDITION OF MEMBERS CARROM TOURNAMENT

Panaji: The Panaji Gymkhana successfully organised the First Edition of its Members Carrom Tournament, which witnessed enthusiastic participation and competitive spirit throughout the week. A total of 17 participants competed in the tournament, making the inaugural edition a promising start for the club’s sporting calendar.

The tournament was formally inaugurated at the hands of Sameer Kakodkar, who declared the competition open and encouraged participants to uphold the true spirit of sportsmanship and fair play.

Held from February 23 to February 28, the tournament featured closely contested matches each evening, culminating in an exciting final on February 28. After a series of competitive rounds, Prakash Arolkar emerged as the champion of the first edition, while Harish Borkar finished as the Runner-up following a spirited performance in the finals.

The week-long event saw strong camaraderie among members and showcased impressive skill levels, reflecting the growing interest in indoor sports at the club.

Speaking on the success of the tournament, Panaji Gymkhana President Manoj Caculo said, “We are extremely happy with the response to our First Edition of the Members Carrom Tournament. With 17 participants, the enthusiasm shown by our members has been truly encouraging. The quality of matches, especially the finals, was commendable. Panaji Gymkhana remains committed to promoting indoor sports and providing a platform for our members to compete and bond. We look forward to making this an annual feature with even greater participation in the coming years.”

The successful completion of the inaugural edition has set a strong foundation for future tournaments at Panaji Gymkhana, further strengthening its commitment to fostering sporting culture among its members.
